Rawalpindi, Apr 15(ANI): The Pakistan's military has rejected reports of a foul play by India regarding the last week's deadly avalanche.
The Foreign Office has also called for implementation of 1989 Indo-Pak agreement for the resolution of the Siachen issue.
"There's definitely an environmental issue due to the large number of troops on the other side in Siachen but I cannot speculate if this has anything to do with the burial of our men in avalanche," The Nation quoted a Foreign Office statement, as saying.
South Asia Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Director General Zehra Akbari said Indo-Pak agreement on Siachen signed between former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Rajiv Gandhi, required implementation for the resolution of the issue.
"We are of the view that this agreement should be implemented for the settlement of Siachen dispute," he added.
The same agreement like a pact signed in 1992 has landed in cold storage.
These agreements envisage Siachen dispute resolution through diplomatic channels and withdrawal of troops from the region by both the states.
Meanwhile, international organisations and countries, including Germany and Switzerland are assisting Pakistan in the Gayari Sector of Siachen. (ANI)
