Imphal, Apr 13 (ANI): The first phase of exhibition for the central government run Inspire Awards program to promote the scientific talent of the youth saw the participation of over 150 students here in Imphal.
Most of the students who participated in the first phase of the programe supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology were from Thoubal, Bishnupur and Churachandpur Districts.
Some innovative models like power-generation from various sources like, ash, potatoes and lemons were put on display.
Each participating student got Rs 5000 for exhibiting his project. Visitors showed keen interest in the work of young students who enthusiastically answered all the queries.
"Organizing such exhibitions will help the students to know more about the new technologies. Our knowledge will also increase day by day and I think many scientists can be produced from Manipur," said Mangamba, a participant.
"Such exhibitions are good for the students. They can learn from the fellow participants that will help them in bringing up new models for future," said Shantibala Devi, a visitor.
Till now one million Inspire awards have been given to 4.5 lakh middle and secondary level school students across the country. Northeastern India hopes to make an important contribution through its trained and skilled human resources. (ANI)
