Jakarta, April 11 (IANS) Golfer Lee Westwood will fly next week to play at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters to defend his title after finishing tied third at the Masters Tournament.
The Englishman, ranked third in the world, was disappointed to come so close again to his Maiden victory, but will certainly be fired up when he plays at the $750,000 full-field Asian Tour at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club April 19-22.
"Keep plugging and working out. Don't give up. I don't feel like giving up just yet," said Westwood of his Major quest.
He said his putter let him down in crucial moments especially in dropping two bogeys in his opening three holes, Xinhua reports.
"Yeah, the story of the week is you have got to putt well to win the Masters, and I haven't putted well. Came out and missed a two-footer on the third inexplicably, and that is not the kind of thing that will give you confidence for the rest of the round."
Last year, Westwood produced a sterling performance on his 38th birthday to win the 2011 Indonesian Masters by three shots with his 19-under-par 269 total.
It was a memorable week as victory pushed him back into the world number one spot, albeit briefly.
