Johannesburg, Mar 31(ANI): Recommendations made by a ministerial inquiry have been accepted by Cricket South Africa's (CSA) board of directors in principle, acting president Willie Basson revealed on Friday.
Basson said, a decision to set up a steering committee, comprising of board representatives as well as independent members to lead discussions on the governance structures of CSA, was made after a board meeting in Johannesburg.
"That was a major component part of the Nicholson report and a point of much discussion outside and inside South Africa and then of course worldwide, in New Zealand and England as well," Sports24 quoted Basson, as saying.
"This was to follow up the resolution that was passed at the board meeting on March 17, at which the decision was taken to set up a steering committee to ensure that governance structures are put into place," he added.
Basson, Chris Nenzani, Archie Pretorius and Vuyo Ntswahlana (representing the board) and Rushdi Magiet, Shawn Christiansen, Alan Jordaan and Ashwin Desai (independents), are the members of the steering committee.
Basson further added that it was unanimously resolved that any decision in this regard should wait until the outcome of the disciplinary inquiry.
He said he had been encouraged, and impressed by the unified and positive manner in which the board had tackled the recommendations of the Nicholson Committee.
"The key approach has been to make principled decisions with a sense of urgency and at the same time to act in the best interests of CSA," he added. (ANI)
