Mumbai, April 9 (IANS) Mumbai-based Aditya Mehta has won his first round match at the World Professional Snooker Championships at Sheffield against Andrew Pagget of Wales.
With this, Aditya has become the first Indian to win a match at the World Championships in a decade.
Aditya trailed for almost the entire match in the best of 19 format. From 2-5 down, he finished the morning session strongly with breaks of 62 and 103 to close the gap to 4-5.
In the evening session, Aditya trailed by a frame or two till 6-8. After that he won four consecutive frames to close out the match 10-8.
Aditya is currently ranked World No.82.
The Championship sees the participation of the top 100 players.
