London, April 9 (IANS) A group of university students from Manchester have been accused of stripping after becoming drunk, smashing glasses and overturning tables on a ferry trip to France.
Undergraduates from the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University were sailing on the Spirit of France ship from Dover to Calais Sunday, the Daily Mail reported.
Around 200 students clashed, which led to scared passengers being moved to a secure room. The report did not mention whether anyone was held by the authorities.
Steve Johnson, the ferry's captain, said: "There was dancing on the tables and bottles kicked off tables. Males and females were exposing themselves in generally drunken, loutish behaviour. There were many complaints."
Many students boarded the ferry in a drunken state which eventually led to streaking and fighting at the bar.
Students from Manchester University have earlier been involved in drunken brawls.
In March, students were warned that they face expulsion following complaints from residents about loud, drunken parties.
