Lahore, Apr 5(ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has welcomed the efforts of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Mustafa Kamal for trying to convince other nations to play tournaments in Pakistan.
Kamal, who is currently in India, said that 'he is on a 'special mission in India, which is to try and convince the other nations to tour Pakistan.'
"Due to political reasons, the Indian team is not touring Pakistan. But I shall try to convince other boards like South Africa, England etc to send their teams to Pakistan. For how long can we neglect Pakistan? How long can they host their 'home' series at neutral venues? We cannot ignore Pakistan like this," The Daily Times quoted Kamal, as saying.
He also said that Bangladesh does not have any issues relating to neutral or non-neutral match officials for the Pakistan tour, but the BCB was looking for whole-hearted support from the ICC regarding the tour.
PCB general manager media Nadeem Sarwar described Bangladesh as a brother country and added their efforts to resume international cricket in Pakistan were praiseworthy.
"BCB president Kamal is supporting us since he visited Pakistan. They are very serious in sending their team to Pakistan to resume international cricket in the country," Nadeem added.
Nadeem said he was optimistic that the ICC would give its consent to the upcoming tour since both the countries' boards have agreed to the tour.
Pakistan has not hosted any international cricket tournaments since the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009. (ANI)
