A plethora of ways to celebrate Easter

New Delhi, April 5 (IANS) A crafts fair or a play or a musical - the national capital's denizens can choose from a plethora of activities over the next few days to add zing to their Easter celebrations.

There is, for instance, the Easter Crafts Mela that The Foreign Correspondent's Club Of South Asia will organise Saturday at its premises on Mathura Road opposite the Pragati Maidan exhibition grounds.

Here, one can purchase Easter Eggs, t-shirts and the like and also get a temporary tattoo. The money raised will be donated to the Anugarh Children's Home NGO, which helps children who have migrated to the capital from Nepal or Darjeeling to find work by taking care of their basic needs like accommodation, food, clean water and schooling.

There is no entry fee for adults while it is Rs.400 for children, which includes Easter goodies.

'Easter is spiritual...and yet, it is full of colour and celebrates spring, much like Holi is for Indians,' said club manager Rachel Joy Tanzer.

For those who want to experience Easter in a traditional way, the

place to go to is Epicentre in Gurgaon on Monday.

'The event will revolve around church music, including the 6th century Gregorian Chants for Easter and that by other composers and also showcase the modern style Easter Gospel and Easter Rock,' said event organiser Aubrey Aloysius.

'Composers like Mozart, Bach and Handel have written music, choral works, masses, oratorios, passions and cantatas to celebrate the resurrection of Christ,' he added.

For those interested in the ritual of painting Easter Eggs, the place to go to is the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre which is organising a special painting workshop for school children.
