Anantnag, Apr 5 (ANI): In a bid to make farmers aware about new agricultural technologies, the Jammu and Kashmir Government's Department of Agriculture has established an agri-business centre in Larnoo-Kokernag area of Anantnag District under centrally sponsored Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) scheme.
Agricultural officer Eijaz Ahmad said the centre would benefit the farmers with better methods of farming and aims to tap the expertise available in the region.
"The main motive behind this centre is to serve the farmers who are not capable of purchasing farming machinery such as tractors which they can use to save time and money, to overcome shortage of labour component. Another aim is to help them get the benefit of the agricultural production," said Ahmad.
"The agri-business centre scheme will benefit the self-help group and the unemployed agriculture graduate," he added.
Farmers appreciated the move and said that it would provide a boost to the agricultural production of the state.
"We are thankful to the Jammu and Kashmir Government for initiating this move through which our farmers will be benefited. The centre will solve the problem of water scarcity with the new machinery introduced," said Jahangir Ahmad, a farmer.
The centre is expected to provide different types of agricultural machinery on the basis of custom hiring service at subsidized rates to the farming community. (ANI)
