New Delhi, Apr.3 (ANI): A Delhi court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of a doctor couple who allegedly left their minor maid locked up and starving in their house while they vacationed in Thailand.
Delhi Police said the couple is still out of India, and added that their lawyer has informed the court that his client is willing to cooperate with the investigation.
Earlier, a lookout notice was issued against the doctor couple-Sanjay and Sumita Verma.
The 13-year-old maid was rescued last week from the doctor couple's flat after neighbours heard her screaming from the balcony.
A case has been filed against the couple under the Juvenile Justice Act, the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, the Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act and the Indian Penal Code.
The victim has also complained to Child Welfare Committee that the couple thrashed her for her mistakes and installed CCTVs inside their home to keep a watch on her. (ANI)
