London, Apr 2 (ANI): Ronan Keating and his wife Yvonne, who have been married for 14 years, have confirmed that they have parted ways.
In simultaneous announcements on their respective Twitter pages, both of them maintained that they had kept their split private for the sake of their three children.
The couple had gone through a rough patch for two years after Keating's affair with a back-up dancer Francine Cornell was revealed in 2010.
Former model Yvonne revealed on Sunday that they decided to go their separate ways last year, which implies that their split would have come just days after they attended the Emerald 'n' Ivy Ball in London as a family.
Yvonne, 37, wrote: "Sadly, our marriage ended late last year. We kept this news private to give everybody involved time to adjust. Thank you for your support x."nd her estranged husband, 35, tweeted: "Sadly our news is true. Thank u all for your support. Yvonne and I still love and care for each other and want to protect our kids. X."
Despite their split, they did managed to spend New Year's together in Scotland with their children, according to photos on Yvonne's Twitter page, the Daily Mail reported.
Yvonne had tried for the last two years to work through her husband's infidelity, but the pressure proved too much for both of them.
According to reports, the couple had primarily tried to save their marriage for their children, but their efforts were in vain.
Ronan's seven-month affair with dancer Francine Cornell began after they met during Boyzone's tour, which started in May and June 2009.
Yvonne found out that her husband had a secret second phone and decided to go through the messages.
There she found intimate correspondence between the singer and the then 26-year-old Cornell.
Yvonne reportedly rang Francine after she found the texts, only to be told by the dancer: "We're in love."
Yvonne was heartbroken, following which she confronted Keating who admitted the affair.
"There were some quite suggestive texts that left little to the imagination. Yvonne went ballistic and told him it was over there and then," a source said at the time.
However, a few months later, Yvonne was seen holding hands with Keating in Australia, after apparently giving him another chance.
After begging for forgiveness, the 35-year-old was let back into the family home in Dublin with their children Jack, 13, Marie, 11 and Ali, six.
In an interview with the Mail On Sunday's Live magazine last year, Ronan confessed his regrets over the affair.
"I make mistakes. I'm definitely not comfortable with the mistakes that I've made and I'm still trying to resolve them," he said.
"I did make a mistake. And I'm still trying to make up for that. I love my wife and my family is everything to me. Right now I'm trying to be the man I want to be. I'm trying to get there.
"The people I love the most have been hurt - my family. I take the blame for that. Everyone is responsible for their own actions," he added.
However, with his work commitments on the Australian version of The X Factor, it was hard for the relationship to sustain. (ANI)
