Melbourne, Apr 1(ANI): Australian pacer Patrick Cummins plans to use his selection in Australia's under-19 team to secure a berth in the national Twenty20 World Cup team and perhaps even secure a place in the lucrative Indian Premier League.
Cummins, who bagged an impressive seven wickets on his Test debut against South Africa in Johannesburg in November 2011, has been sidelined with heel injury.
Cummins, who dismissed Jacques Kallis and A. B. de Villiers in his only Test, said he now has extra motivation to bowl with purpose.
"I love playing T20 and it has probably been my strongest form since I first played for NSW. The T20 World Cup is a huge goal for me," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Cummins, as saying.
"I still have my fingers crossed that something will come off over there because there's not much cricket around at the moment and the IPL would allow for me to play against some great players," he added.
His manager, Dominic Thornely, said Cummins needs to play competitive cricket coming out of his lengthy rehabilitation program.
"Pat is really champing at the bit to play and we have to find some cricket for him," Thornely said. (ANI)
