Islamabad, Mar 31(ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif has claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari offered him the country's premiership after the 2008 elections.
"On my refusal, the PML-N government in Punjab was dismissed and governor's rule was imposed in the province," The Dawn quoted Sharif, as saying, while addressing a public gathering at Bhong.
He visited Bhong at the invitation of former state minister Rais Munir Ahmed, who announced his joining the PML-N on the occasion.
Sharif said his and his brother Shahbaz Sharif's nomination papers were rejected ahead of the last election and added that former president Pervez Musharraf used state machinery to defeat the PML-N.
He said Zardari had asked him to forgive Musharraf, but he refused to do so.
"Dictators always harmed the country. Terrorism, suicide attacks and drone attacks are their gifts. The whole nation is paying the penalty of their actions," he added.
He said the PML-N would not allow anyone to win the next elections through rigging. (ANI)
