London, Mar 25(ANI): Bolton Wanderer's manager Owen Coyle has revealed Fabrice Muamba's private good luck message for the players inspired them during their 2-1 win over fellow relegation threatened Blackburn Rovers at Reebok Stadium on Saturday.
The incapacitated midfielder, Muamba is still recovering in a London hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest at Tottenham Hotspurs last week during their FA Cup quarterfinal clash, which was abandoned later on.
"It was great the lads were able to receive the message. It shows Fabrice is getting better every day. He was able to speak to one of the consultants to say he wished the lads well," The Sun quoted Coyle, as saying.
"I know our chairman has spoken to his family at his bedside and I am pretty sure they would have told him about our win today," he added.
Fans of both clubs paid tribute to Muamba with a minute's applause at the Reebok Stadium, and they also chanted his name.
David Wheater scored twice against Blackburn to give Bolton a much-needed victory, which also pulled them out of the relegation zone.
"We all knew it was going to be an emotionally-charged day. You saw the build up and minute's applause. As much as we had to play the game, all our thoughts were still with Fabrice and his recovery," Coyle said.
"Each day he recovers more but he has still got a way to go, that's why he's still in intensive care. When the game started we were still thinking of him. The team-talk wasn't long. There's nothing more important to us at this club than Fabrice," he said.
"He's not just a team-mate and a colleague, he's a friend and a gem of a lad. That's why he has received such support from across the globe. It's great he has a God-given talent to play football but it's more important he's a nice person as well," he added. (ANI)
