Jaipur, March 28 (IANS) Rajasthan Industries Minister Rajendra Pareek Wednesday said the state government's single window act had facilitated investment in the state, which had emerged as one of the most preferred destinations for industrial investment.
At the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited (RIICO) foundation day here at the Birla Auditorium, Pareek said the industrial policies of the state government too had benefited the people and the sector.
Though the knowledge of the general public on the single widow system was low earlier, its popularity had grown in the the recent times, resulting in the increase of investment inflow into the state, he said.
RIICO chairman and principal secretary Sunil Arora, who presided over the function, said the state had come a long way in industrial development, but there was a lot of ground still to be covered.
He said investment was continuing in the auto sector and it is expected that by 2013, there would be a full auto assembly line unit set up at Tapukada in Alwar district.
RIICO managing director Rajendra Bhanawat said the organisation had contributed immensely to the infrastructure development in the state. This has helped the state to continue developing even during an economic downturn, he added.
Bhanawat said RIICO had made record recoveries worth Rs.700 crore ($200 million).
He said the organisation had implemented several schemes for welfare of employees which includes medical benefits for retired employees and raising the compensation in case of unfortunate death on duty from Rs.2 lakh to Rs.4 lakh.
Pareek gave away awards to industrialists instituted by RIICO for the first time in four categories.
Among the winners were Mitsui Prime Advance Composites from the Japanese Zone, Neemrana (for industrial unit with most efficient use, recycling and recharging of water), BOSCH Limited from Sitapura (for corporate social responsibility), Climate Systems India Limited from Bhiwadi (for the most environment friendly green unit), Gupta Fabtex (for innovative practices), and Hindustan National Glass and Industries from Neemrana (for commendable performance in efficient water use, green unit and innovative practices).
