Paris, Mar 28 (ANI): A lawyer for shamed former International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief, Dominique Strauss-Kahn has said that the case of his alleged involvement in a French prostitution ring will collapse and stressed that living a libertine lifestyle was not a crime.
Lawyer Henri Leclerc said that evidence against Strauss-Kahn was 'hollow' after the French politician was formally placed under investigation.
Strauss-Kahn is facing allegations of involvement in a vice ring that hired prostitutes for hotel orgies in Paris and Washington.
"There's no serious evidence to suggest that Dominique Strauss-Kahn knew that these women were paid," The BBC quoted Leclerc, as saying.
"You can say what you like about that on the moral level, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not against the criminal law. They are trying to ban a sort of crime of lust. He's being attacked over his libertine behaviour," Leclerc added.
Strauss-Kahn admits attending sex parties, but denies he knew that prostitutes were there.
Last May, he resigned from the IMF after being accused of attempting to rape hotel maid in New York. Those charges were later dropped. (ANI)
