Seoul, Mar.26 (ANI): The Prime Ministers of India and Italy, Manmohan Singh and Mario Monti, met in Seoul on Monday and reviewed bilateral ties on sidelines of the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit.
Singh and Monti discussed matters affecting relations between the two countries in the presence of their respective delegations.
India and Italy had a diplomatic standoff recently over the killing of two Indian fishermen by marines aboard an Italian vessel 'Enrica Lexie'.
The fishermen were killed on February 15 night when a navy security team onboard the Italian vessel opened fire on a boat it mistook for pirates in Indian territorial waters.
A murder case had been registered against the crew, the first in a series of wrangles that saw India and Italy disagree over the admissibility of trying the marines under the Indian law.
The accused are currently in judicial custody until April 2.
More recently, Maoists took Italian tourist Claudio Colangelo and tour guide Paolo Bosusco hostage for taking photos of tribal women bathing in a river in Kandhamal district.
Colangelo was released on Sunday, while appeals for Bosusco's release still continue. (ANI)
