Wellington, Mar 26(ANI): New Zealand captain Ross Taylor has been ruled out on the final day of the Wellington Test after he broke his left arm as his team narrowly avoided the follow-on .
X-rays revealed that Taylor has fractured ulna bone in his forearm after being struck by a short delivery from South African fast bowler Morne Morkel, stuff.co.nz reports.
New Zealand were dismissed for 275 in reply to South Africa's first innings of 474-9 declared, and the tourists were batting again late on the fourth day.
It is unclear, however, that how long Taylor will be sidelined, but he is likely to miss most of the Indian Premier League starting next month.
New Zealand Cricket's medical director Ian Murphy refused to speculate on Taylor's return date.
"The break is not displaced which is a positive sign but we will see orthopaedic surgeon to determine the best course of action and length of time out of the game," he added. (ANI)
