South Korea says North Korea has moved rocket to launch site

Seoul , Sun, 25 Mar 2012 ANI

Seoul, Mar 25 (ANI): South Korea has claimed on Sunday that North Korea has moved a long-range rocket to its northwestern site in preparation for a launch next month.

Officials from the South Korean Defense Ministry and Joint Chiefs of Staff officials said the information has been received from the South Korean and US militaries.

The officials, however, provided no further details and spoke on condition of anonymity, CBS News reports.

North Korea has said that it will launch a satellite into space on a long-range rocket next month as part of its peaceful space program.

The United States warns the launch could jeopardize a recent deal that would ship American food aid to the North in exchange for a moratorium on missile and nuclear tests.

Pyongyang says the rocket, which would take a new southern trajectory instead of a previous route east over Japan, would mark the 100th birthday of its late Great Leader Kim Il-sung. (ANI)
