Islamabad, Mar 20 (ANI): Former Pakistan Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that the Pakistani people will keep on protesting, but the US won't stop its drone attacks.
"The Pakistani people will keep on protesting. And the drone strikes will keep taking place," The New York Times quoted Sherpao, as saying.
His comments came at a point when both Washington and Islamabad are trying to rebuild their ties, though the latter made it clear that the issue of drone attacks will be a crucial point of discussion. For diplomats on both sides, the drone issue has become the Rubik's Cube of their relationship - a puzzle with no easy solution.
"Things are at a very delicate point right now," a senior United States official said.
Some officials suggest that the diplomatic deadlock could be broken by sharing more information with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate.
However, Shamila N. Chaudhary, a former member of the US National Security Council, said that the task will not be easy as America has become impatient with Pakistan following the raid on bin Laden's hideout in Abbottabad. It's not in the U.S. interest to have a drone program with limits. The administration wants utmost flexibility," she added. (ANI)
