Islamabad, Mar 15(ANI): Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary has said the country's intelligence agencies are flouting their mandate.
He was hearing Air Marshal (r) Asghar Khan's petition regarding the distribution of funds by the former ISI chief among politicians to rig the 1990 elections.
He observed that Pakistan belongs to 'all of us' and its protection is a collective responsibility contrary to the belief that only a handful of people are exclusive guardians of the state and can run the country according to their wishes, The Nation reports.
Justice Chaudhary said there should not be any intervention of agencies in the political affairs of the country, stressing on the need to formulate guidelines in this regard.
"Everyday we say (to the state functionaries) run the country in accordance with the constitution but when we see the role of agencies we think what is (this) happening," he added. (ANI)
