London, Mar 13 (ANI): Nicklas Bendtner has been cleared of the charges levied against him for vandalising parked cars near the home of his team's arch rivals.
The 24-year-old Sunderland striker had been charged with five counts of criminal damage along with team captain Lee Cattermole, both of Darras Hall, Ponteland, Northumberland, over an alleged wrecking spree in Newcastle upon Tyne in December, the Sun reported.
Prosecutors have formally withdrawn the case against Bendtner.
The Dane, who is on loan to the Black Caps from Arsenal, was not present at Newcastle Magistrates' Court as the case against him was dropped.
Cattermole, 23, is alleged to have caused 4,168.27 pounds of damage to parked cars in Stowell Street in Newcastle's Chinatown, a few hundred yards from Newcastle United's St James's Park ground on December 6.
Dressed in a grey suit and black shirt, he appeared in court but did not enter a plea to the five charges against him.
The case was adjourned at the request of the prosecution.
He was granted unconditional bail until the next hearing in a fortnight. (ANI)
