BJP Parliamentary Board to meet today to discuss Budget Session

New Delhi, Sun, 11 Mar 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 11 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board is meeting at party veteran Lal Krishna Advani's residence here on Sunday to chalk out the strategy to take on the Congress-led UPA Government in the coming Budget Session of Parliament.

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley had earlier on Saturday slammed the government over its failure on various economic fronts.

"The government is unable to manage the country's economic system as the environment for investment is not conducive and they have failed to control the spiralling inflation. Everyone from the labour to the people in the industrial sector are worried and there has been a slump in the infrastructure sector," he said.

Lal Krishna Advani had also echoed similar sentiments, and said that during this Budget Session the party would raise the issue of black money.

"Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had assured in the Parliament that steps would be taken to bring back the black money. We have decided to put forward a letter in the Parliament on the issue of black money and I hope that it will be addressed and we will know what the government has done in this direction," he said.

The opposition parties, led by the BJP, is expected to corner the government on a host of issues during the Parliament's Budget Session, which includes the NCTC, internal security, federalism, black money and violations of model code of conduct by ministers in the just concluded assembly polls.

India's economic growth slowed to 6.1 percent in the third quarter of the present fiscal year ending in December 2011, the weakest annual pace in almost three years, as high interest rates and rising raw material costs constrained investment and manufacturing.

It is expected that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in his Budget for 2012-13, to be presented on March 16, would announce steps for reviving the economy. (ANI)
