Robin Gibb believes cancer 'karmic price' for Bee Gees' success

London , Sat, 10 Mar 2012 ANI

London, Mar 10 (ANI): Bee Gees' Robin Gibb, who has been battling with cancer for the last 18 months, said that he could be suffering from the ailment as a "karmic price" for the success of his band.

The 62-year-old singer, who has been diagnosed with colon and liver cancer, said that he and his twin brother who died in 2003 have been paying for their global achievements.

"I sometimes wonder if all the tragedies my family has suffered, like Andy and Maurice dying so young and everything that's happened to me recently, is a kind of karmic price we are paying for all the fame and fortune we've had," the Daily Mail quoted him as telling the Sun.

"But we've worked hard for everything we've achieved," he said.

Gibb, who has been battling the cancer for 18 months after he collapsed in 2010, is currently completing a course of chemotherapy and is in remission.

He has suffered repeated health problems due to a twisted intestine.

The Bee Gees disbanded in 2003 after his twin brother Maurice died aged 53 as a result of complications from the same condition. Their brother Andy died aged just 30. (ANI)
