Washington, Mar 9 (ANI): Nearly two-thirds of college presidents in the United States want President Barack Obama re-elected, making him the overwhelming favorite, according to a new survey.
Obama's appeal with well-educated voters gets him the support of 65.1 percent of the 1,002 college presidents surveyed by Inside Higher Ed.
He gets even more support from the leaders of public colleges and universities that award doctoral and master's degrees, where 75 percent of leaders say they plan to vote to re-elect the president this fall, Politico reports.
Though Obama has pushed for more funding and recognition for community colleges, his support among their presidents is at 66 percent, just higher than the overall sample group.
But the news isn't all good on campus for Obama. He does worst with the presidents of for-profit colleges, institutions like the University of Phoenix and Kaplan University that Obama's Education Department has worked to regulate more stringently.
At the for-profits, 29 percent of presidents plan to vote for Obama, the website reports. (ANI)
