Dubai, Mar 9 (ANI): Ana Ivanovic has revealed that she started playing tennis because of Monica Seles and hopes to inspire young children the same way.
Seles is a former world No. 1 tennis player like Ivanovic and won nine Grand Slam singles titles in her career. In 1993, she was stabbed in her back by an obsessed Steffi Graf fan during a break between games. That incident led to increased security at tour games.
Ivanovic says she is fan of the International Tennis Hall of Fame inductee.
"I really just try to enjoy the game and hope that I can inspire young kids. I started playing tennis because of Monica Seles and I try to promote the sport in the best possible way," the Gulf News quoted Ivanovic as saying.
"Sometimes it's hard because you get upset on court, but I think in life one learns through experiences in order to evolve as a person.
"We are constantly learning and, when that's not the case, we stop believing. It's important to learn from every experience - some are unpleasant, but that's one thing that I have learnt: not everything is great," she added. (ANI)
