Islamabad, Feb 27 (ANI): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that restoring NATO supplies before the verdict of parliament is a disgrace for the nation.
Addressing a public meting in Bahawalpur on Sunday, he linked the issue with Pakistan allegedly "becoming the slaves of America' to emphasise his point.
"We came out of British slavery, but became the slaves of America. The US resolution on Balochistan is not only open interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan, but it is also against sovereignty of the country," the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.
Earlier this month, Pakistan had made an announcement of temporarily allowing NATO to ship perishable food to its troops in Afghanistan.
Pakistan had closed its Afghan border to NATO supplies in response to the deadly November 26 attack on two of its border posts, which killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.
On Sunday, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had said his government had never closed its airspace for NATO supplies in Afghanistan and had only suspended the land route.
"The Defence Committee of the Cabinet had taken a decision to suspend supplies for NATO through land route and get the Shamsi airbase vacated. We are bound by that," he said. (ANI)
