New York, Feb 19 (ANI): Muhammad Ali was honoured by 1,800 people including a host of A-listers and boxing greats at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Arena on Saturday night.
The Keep Memory Alive Power Of Love gala was held in celebration of the former heavyweight champion's 70th birthday, which was last month.
According the Las Vegas Sun, President Barack Obama was among those to pay tribute to the sporting legend, describing Ali as a "true champion" via a taped message from Washington, the New York Post reported.
Among the celebrities expected were Stevie Wonder, Samuel L Jackson, David Beckham, Larry King, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Combs, Anthony Hopkins, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and James Gandolfini.
Cindy Crawford was among the celebs who turned out to celebrate the boxing legend's birthday.
Former boxing champs scheduled to attend included Sugar Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield, Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers, Leon Spinks, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini and Tommy "Hitman" Hearns.
NFL Hall of Fame's Jim Brown was among the guests.
"We are here to celebrate a great athlete and a great man," Brown said.
"He not only stood up to, and beat, his opponents, but he stood up for what he believed in.
We are here to tell him it was right for him to do that and to offer our love and support," he added.
Proceeds from the event went to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky. (ANI)
