Shimla, Feb.20 (ANI): Shimla is hosting a photo exhibition with the aim of promoting the conservation of birds.
People thronged to see approximately hundred photographs of 80 species of birds during the three-day long exhibition.
The exhibition displayed photographs of birds, as part of a competition.
Chief of Himachal Birds Society Somesh Goyal said this initiative would draw bird watchers to identify birds and also promote and preserve the birds.
"We have founded Himachal Birds Society. This is a registered society. And we are given to the cause of bird watching and preservation and conservation of the avian habitat, so that is the motto that is the punch line of our organisation. And we work towards conservation, towards creating awareness about the importance of birds, in our total chain and in our environment," said Goyal.
Photographs of different species of birds were on display, including Grey Headed Woodpecker, Grey Treepie, Black Lored Tit, Black Throated Tit, Grey Hooded Warbler, Himalayan Bulbul, Green Beater, Common Hooper, Jungle Babblers, Blue Whistling Thrush, green backed tit, blue-throated barbet, yellow billed blue magpie, large pied wagtail, gray winged blackbird and black necked stork.
"Once people come and see the exhibitions, they see the birds, they understand the birds, they want to know about those birds and when they go back to their residences, whenever they see any bird, they relate, that this is this bird, which we had seen," said Goyal.
The exhibition ends later today. (ANI)
