Wellington, Feb 20(ANI): New Zealand all- rounder Jesse Ryder is in the squad for the Twenty20 match against South Africa at Eden Park.
Ryder, who has not played for New Zealand since Australia's Test defeat in Hobart last December, suffered a torn calf muscle, while playing for Wellington during a domestic Twenty20 match.
Ryder has replaced Canterbury all-rounder Andrew Ellis, stuff-co.nz reports.
New Zealand's National Selection Manager Kim Littlejohn said Ryder had proved his readiness to return to international cricket.
"We are pleased with the progress Jesse has made since returning from injury and with Andrew not available for the final match we felt it was a good opportunity to bring him back into the mix," Littlejohn said.
Black Caps Twenty20 squad:
Brendon McCullum (captain), Michael Bates, Doug Bracewell, Colin de Grandhomme, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Ronnie Hira, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, Rob Nicol, Jacob Oram, Jesse Ryder, Tim Southee, Kane Williamson (ANI)
