Madrassa Haqqania not used for plotting Benazir's assassination: JUI-S

Islamabad, Sun, 19 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 19 (ANI): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-S (JUI-S) leader Maulana Samiul Haq has termed the latest report of former premiere Banazir Bhutto's assassination as a conspiracy, insisting that Uloom Haqqania, the seminary he manages, had no involvement in the incident.

The probe into the assassination of Bhutto, ordered by the Interior Ministry, has revealed that former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf orchestrated the murder through two police officers and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Baitullah Mehsud.

According to Waqt News, the report to be submitted before the Sindh Assembly, says that a cell had been established at Room No 96 of Haqqania Madrassa in the Akora Khattak village, to plan the execution and the students of the seminary were in contact with Baitullah.

Haq, however, said that the interior ministry report was a conspiracy against the seminary and his political organisation Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Samiul Haq).

He confirmed the government had given them names and they checked it, but did not find any record of the persons in question.

"Nobody catches the real assassins who BB herself had pointed to while she was alive. Many of those persons are sitting in the cabinet now," Haq said.

He said that the Darul Aloom Haqania was in no way associated with any such illegal act, The Nation quoted the Waqt News report, as saying.

"Thousand of students study in the 15 hostels of the seminary. If a person spends a night at his relative's room in a hostel, we can't stop anyone. Colleges and universities all around the world have many unwanted elements. Our own educational institutions are infested with absconders but the government cannot get a hold on them," he added.
