44 percent Americans say economy will be better in 2013

Washington, Feb.17 (ANI): Almost half of all Americans say they expect the economy will be better a year from now.

According to a new Pew Research Centre poll, 44 percent of those surveyed said they think economic conditions in 2013.

Last month, 34 percent shared that confidence and only 28 percent said the same in December. Just 10 percent say conditions will be worse in February 2013, while 42 percent think things will not change.

And on partisan lines, 61 percent of Democrats say next year will be better and 42 percent of Independents agree.

Just 30 percent of Republicans, however, say economic conditions will be better a year from now.

As for the United States' economic recovery, 54 percent of Americans say they view things positively - a fourth say the economy is already in the recovery process and 29 percent say they believe it will recover soon.

But most Americans are still overwhelmingly negative about the economy overall, Pew found.

The poll surveyed 1,501 adults and the margin of error was plus or minus three percentage points. (ANI)
