Farrukhabad, Feb 15 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has said that his party is committed towards bringing the black money stashed in safe havens abroad back to the nation.
Singh, who held a campaign rally here on Tuesday, said: "India is not lagging behind on its will power. I do not know about the quantity of the black money, but the Congress Party is committed to bringing the black money back to the nation."
It may be recalled here that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier this week claimed that are the largest depositors of illegal money in banks abroad amounting to an estimated 500 billion US dollars.
CBI Director A.P. Singh, while speaking at the inauguration of first Interpol global programme on anti-corruption and asset recovery, on Monday said: "It is estimated that around $500 billion of illegal money belonging to Indians is deposited in tax havens abroad. Largest depositors in Swiss Banks are also reported to be Indians."
The black money issue has become a major political agenda of the various political outfits and has been raised very frequent during their campaign for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. The Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) have also hit out at each other on this issue.
The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.
A new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)

February 15, 2012 at 12:53 PMOut of all the people on earth, Digvijay Singh says that the congress has got will power to bring back the black money from foreign countries. The statement was made during an election rally.Just like any other freebies offered in the election manifesto, this is one like it. Mr.Singh, please stop your buffonery, the people are more intelligent.

February 15, 2012 at 12:37 PMMan, donot trust him. He is always wayward. His vision is always confusing, Many a times he himself is unsure of his utterings. He is self proclaimed leader liked by the least. People swith off TV the moment he appears on the monitor. He has become irrelevant. I doubt whether he understands coruption. Talks about secularism but behaves like communal. Congress party these days is full of such characters. Once a National Party but reduced to Notional party.

Intent is fine but there is need to demonstrate how much forward movement has been made? Congress is serious about no doubt. But time now to share credentials....
