Israel Defence Minister accuses Iran, Hezbollah of 'targeting Israelis worldwide'

Jerusalem, Tue, 14 Feb 2012 ANI

Jerusalem, Feb 14 (ANI): Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak has accused Iran and Hezbollah of carrying out recent terror attacks against Israeli interests in New Delhi and Georgia, and also blamed Tehran of targeting Israelis all over the world.

Barak said that Iran and Hezbollah were 'intent on sabotaging the Israeli way of life and operating against Israelis all over the world.'

He added that Israel must be at the forefront of fighting terror and continue to prepare for the challenges it faces as Iran and Hezbollah seek Israeli victims, The Jerusalem Post reports.

Barak's remarks came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Iran for launching a bomb attack on the Israeli embassy vehicle on Monday that wounded four people.

"Iran, which is behind these attacks, is the biggest exporter of terrorism in the world. The Israeli government and its security forces will continue to work together with local security services against these terrorist actions," Netanyahu said.

Tal Yehoshua-Koren, the wife of an Israeli defense envoy to New Delhi was badly injured along with three other people when their car was destroyed by an explosive device placed on it by a motorcyclist at a red light.

In Tbilisi, the Georgian capital, a similar device was discovered on the car of a local staff member of the Israeli Embassy, but was defused by the police.

Meanwhile, Iran has denied any responsibility for the attacks, with the country's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast reportedly blaming Israel for carrying out attack on its own embassy members to "tarnish Iran's friendly ties with India." (ANI)
