London, Feb 11 (ANI): Men may not fully appreciate their partner's efforts towards turning their house into a home, a new study has revealed.
According to the study, women can change everything from curtains to wallpaper and even move furniture, all without their other halves noticing.
The survey revealed that one in 10 woman had painted a room but got no reaction from their husband or boyfriend.
And a third divulged that they have been greeted with silence after putting up new pictures. Men fail to notice more than half of the changes in their homes each year, according to the 2,000 women polled.
Two thirds had to point to changes before their menfolk noticed, the Daily Express reported.
On the contrary, other women almost always spot them right away. Most of those quizzed said that their mothers and friends seldom fail to notice new cushions or colour schemes.
This proves something women have been saying for years - when it comes to homes, men see things differently.
"This proves something women have been saying for years - when it comes to homes, men see things differently," Helen Gunter, of TK Maxx which carried out the research, said.
"While women feel it's those little extra touches that are the best way to provide an instant style-refresh, and are quick to spot these in the homes of friends, neighbours and family, men fail to notice changes right under their noses.
"But keeping a home stylish and fashionable can be a full-time job. It can't be fun to put so much time and effort in and have it go completely unnoticed. At least the other women in our lives are likely to acknowledge the hard work that goes in to creating a home that shows off your personal style without breaking the bank." quarter of the women polled said that they were annoyed with their man for not praising their efforts while around half felt they were not appreciated.
One in 10 believed that their partner did notice but just didn't care.
New cushions were more likely to be missed than anything else, while women also insisted that their partners were oblivious to new bedspreads, newly hung pictures, new candles, new plants, lampshades and changes to the garden furniture.
One in six said that despite completely rearranging the layout of furniture in their home, their other halves failed to notice it.
Nearly 40 per cent of women do not bother to ask their partners before making changes to decor or buying furnishings, considering it to be "pointless". (ANI)
