Beijing, Feb 8 (ANI): Asserting that the Tibetan autonomous region is a part of the People's Republic of China, visiting External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Wednesday said India is willing to render help in easing the tensions.
Krishna, however, said India has to be cautious in dealing with the internal affairs of China.
"Well, that question did not arise, but we did discuss the border issue and we did discuss the Tibetan issue also. It is Government of India's position that the Tibetan autonomous region is part of the People's Republic of China and as a result of that we will have to be dealing with the internal affairs of China," said Krishna.
"And hence, we will have to be very cautious and any help that we can render to ease the tension, I think we are too willing to do it. But I don't think that situation would ever arise," he added.
China has always accused the Dalai Lama of fanning unrest in the Tibetan autonomous region, which has had an impact in mainland China as well. Beijing has seen the Dalai Lama as a renegade and a separatist.
New Delhi on the other hand has consistently maintained that it does not support any political initiatives allegedly attributed to the Dalai Lama, but supports the Tibetan spiritual leader other non-political activities. By Naveen Kapoor (ANI)
