Capello criticizes FA's decision to strip Terry from captaincy

London, Mon, 06 Feb 2012 ANI

London, Feb 6(ANI): England manager Fabio Capello has blasted the Football Association (FA) for removing John Terry from England's captaincy.

He is annoyed with the FA after Terry was axed as England's captain after his trial for allegedly racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand

"The FA's decision does not find me in agreement. Absolutely not. I retained and I retain the belief that John Terry could have kept the captain's armband," The Sun quoted Capello, as saying.

Capello revealed that he had talked to the FA chief David Bernstein and told him that it was court's job to give justice, not the sport authorities.

"I spoke with the chairman and I told him I don't think someone can be punished until it becomes official. It is going to be civil justice, not sports justice, to decide if John Terry committed that crime," he added.

The FA stripped Chelsea skipper Terry of the England armband on Friday until after his trial for allegedly racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.hey made the move when his court date was set for July 9, which is after Euro 2012.

Meanwhile, Capello had also called up Terry over this matter and extended his full support to him.

There have been no suggestions so far that the Italian may quit over the issue. But he could consider his position if the row shoots up further (ANI)
