Van Persie escapes FA charge over elbowing incident

London, Jan.31 (ANI): Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie has escaped an Football ssociation charge over an alleged elbowing incident with Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar.

According to The Sun, van Persie appeared to catch Cuellar with a flailing arm during Sunday's A Cup fourth-round tie.

An FA statement said: "Referee Michael Jones confirmed he saw the incident involving Robin an Persie and therefore the Arsenal forward faces no further action."

The news will come as a huge relief to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as Van Persie, 28, would ave faced a three-match ban if found guilty. (ANI)
