Ambedkar Nagar, Jan 25 (ANI): Taking a dig at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has said the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has done nothing but siphoned off public money in the last four years.
Addressing a rally here, Yadav said: "We want to appeal to the people to elect our party because we want to make the state better and why I am saying this because BSP is in power since four years and the chief minister has done two years' job in four years time, either she has collected public money or erected statues." He further announced that if his party wins the upcoming assembly elections, then farmers' loan up to 50, 000 would be waved off.
"We want our government should be there in the state and if it happens then the first thing we will do is that we will wave off the farmers loan up to rupees 50, 000 and girls education would be provided free of cost," he said.
Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.
Polls in Uttar Pradesh are to be conducted in seven phases between February 8 and March 3. The counting of votes would take place on March 6.
Uttar Pradesh will elect a new 403-member state assembly in March, and the poll results are expected to broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
