London, Jan 24 (ANI): A mother of two has credited her kitten for saving her life - by detecting she had breast cancer.
Wendy Humphreys said that she became confused after the pet persistently leapt up and sat on her right breast while she lay watching television.
After two weeks of the unusual behaviour she became worried enough to consult her general practitioner and was astounded when tests revealed a pea-sized lump that could have killed her if it had remained undiagnosed.
The 52-year-old from Wroughton has undergone chemotherapy and is set to have a mastectomy, the Daily Mail reported.
On Monday night, as she held her saviour Fidge, she said, "She saved my life. I'm so glad I got her."
General practitioner Carol Cooper, who teaches medicine at Imperial College, London, believes there is a logical explanation for Fidge's diagnostic talent.
"Cats love going somewhere warm. It may be that she noticed a subtle change in temperature because of the tumour," she said. (ANI)
