Johannesburg, Jan 24(ANI): South African captain AB De Villiers has expressed relief over Graeme Smith's return to form after he made 125 off 143 deliveries in the final one-day against Sri Lanka.
This was Smith's first century in 36 innings and helped the Proteas set a daunting target of 313 in the final match against the Lankans.
Smith's effort went in vain, as the Lankans chased down the total with a ball to spare at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
However, De Villiers was delighted for him.
"I told the press that he was going to come through, and I'm very happy for my man," the Sports 24 quoted De Villiers, as saying.
He said that Smith fully deserved his century and was proud of him.
"His feet are still on the ground but deep inside I can see that he is very proud and we are all very proud of him. That's the least he deserved today," he added. (ANI)
