Imphal, Jan 23 (ANI): Cine-lovers in Manipur were treated to the best of national and foreign cinema during the second edition of the "Re Play 2012", an international film festival" recently held in the state.
The festival, which was organized by Manipur film division in association with the Huntre International Manipuri Project, highlighted the culture and traditions of Manipur.
The five day long fiesta also gave Manipuri filmmakers an exposure to international films that will help them to improve the quality of their productions.
"I have seen that there are a lot of talented young film makers in Manipur. I have seen some of their works also. The quality of their work has to catch up with the latest developments that are taking place in the film industry in Manipur, which has developed and is producing 100 films in a year," said L Somi Roy, organizer.
Twenty short non-fiction films and documentaries from across the world were screened at festival.
The films were chosen from the two international film festivals "Dance on Camera" and "Film festival Dokumenter" held in New York and Java.
The main highlight of the festival was the workshops conducted by eminent filmmakers and documentary makers like Yoshiko Chuma and Alexandra Viets.
Yoshiko trained Manipuri directors in dance whereas Alexandra focused on screenplay and scripting.
"In Manipur, there are several great filmmakers, photographers and directors. But what I have heard from the expert is that the Manipur films lack in good binded scripts. So this workshop will benefit the scriptwriters in writing good scripts," said Shielaramani Devi, a viewer. (ANI)
