Kuala Lumpur, Jan 23(ANI): India is expanding its visa-on-arrival (VoA) facility to include Malaysia, which would ease the visa procedure for Malaysian tourists to visit India.
India's VoA facility is currently offered to 11 countries.
Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) President Mohammad Khalid Harun said the move would encourage more people to visit both countries.
"It is significant as travellers have to put up with other considerations such as aviation tax, airfare and currency strength," The Star quoted Harun, as saying.
Malaysian Indian Travel and Tour Association President K. Thangavelu also welcomed the move, but also urged "the Indian Government to also remove the two-month no-entry ruling imposed in 2009 under which visitors can only enter India twice within the 60-day visa period."
The Indian government had imposed the 60-day rule as a security measure after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. (ANI)
