Amritsar, Jan 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prem Kumar Dhumal attacked Congress over corruption issue during campaigning tour in poll-bound northern Punjab state.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Dhumal said the India's ruling Congress-led United Progressive alliance government had lost its moral right to speak against corruption.
"The Congress led UPA government has got no moral right to speak about corruption since it is, itself, engrossed in corruption," said Dhumal.
The second term of India's ruling Congress-led UPA government is riddled with series of scandals including Commonwealth Games scam, Adarsh Housing society scam, 2G scam, etc.
Dhumal urged the people to reinstate the coalition government of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab in order to usher in development in the state.
"In order to speed up the process of development, it is very important that the government formed by the coalition of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP in Punjab should reinstate their position again in the state," he said.
In Punjab, the main battle is expected to be between the state-ruling Shiromani Akali Dal -BJP alliance and the Congress.
Punjab is one of five states due to hold elections in January 2012. As per the schedule planned by India's Election Commission, the state assembly poll in Punjab would be held on January 30. (ANI)
