Napier, January 22(ANI): New Zealand coach John Wright is still unsure whether to carry on with his current job or not, as his contract expires in August.
He took over from Mark Greatbatch as coach of the New Zealand national squad during late 2010 and has achieved fair amount of success during his current stint.
Wright led Kiwis to the semifinal of last year's Cricket World Cup and also helped them beat the Australian team at their own home turf in Hobart, Stuff.co.nz reports.
At the time of his appointment, many had raised concerns about his selection as the coach of New Zealand national team, mainly due to his laidback approach, but now Wright feels he has proved his critics wrong.
"The one thing I've found is that I've really enjoyed working with the boys," Wright said.
"I think they had a few doubts about me and it was probably vice versa when I came on board. But I've really enjoyed it.
When he was questioned regarding his stance over extending his current contract as coach of the New Zealand squad after the West Indies tour, Wright said he has not thought about it yet
"I haven't decided yet. I've been thinking about it but nobody has talked about it yet to be honest," he said.
He said he would consider various factors before making any decision.
"I'll have a look at things.
"When I was coaching in the India job it was always a bit of a job where you'd just say, 'let's see where we go to from here'.
"It's the sort of life where you can't ever look too far ahead.
"You plan ahead in terms of the team but let's see where we are at and how things are traveling later in the summer.
"There are no firm decisions in that area yet," he added. (ANI)
