Haridwar, Jan 21 (ANI): With civil society activists all set to begin their election campaign in the poll-bound states, Kumar Vishwas, a close aide of veteran social activist Anna Hazare, has made it clear that his team would urge the voters to vote for clean candidates and boycott the corrupt ones.
"We will ask the people to not vote for the corrupt candidates be it anybody, across party lines. This would be our appeal during our campaign. We will appeal the voters to personally meet their candidates in rallies and public meetings and then ask them where they stand on the Jan Lokpal and the Lokayukta," he told reporters in Uttarakhand's Haridwar city on Friday.
Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh had on Wednesday said Anna Hazare and his aides are at full liberty to campaign, but added that they should first raise their voices against all those involved in corrupt practices during the Mayawati regime in the last five years.
It may be recalled here that Kumar Vishwas had earlier rubbished reports that his team has invited yoga guru Baba Ramdev to campaign in poll-bound Uttarakhand.
The Election Commission had declared that voting in five states, including the most populous Uttar Pradesh would be held between January 28 and March 03. (ANI)
