Mumbai, Jan 20 (ANI): Alistair Pereira, a convict in the 2006 hit-and-run case that killed seven persons, surrendered before police here on Friday, a day after a local court had issued an arrest warrant against him.
Khar police officials escorted the 27-year-old businessman, to the court after he had surrendered before them.
On Thursday, a Sewri Sessions Court had issued a warrant against Pereira after the Supreme Court had cancelled his bail.
On Monday, Pereira had reached the Khar police station to surrender, but was sent back home as a certified copy of the Supreme Court order had not been received either by the police or the court.
The Supreme Court concurred with Bombay High Court's verdict to award a three-year jail term to Pereira, for mowing down seven persons sleeping on the pavement in the Bandra area of the city in November 2006.
Pereira was also slapped with a fine of Rupees five lakhs. (ANI)
