Azamgarh, Jan 15 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday slammed the Congress Party for wrong policy making for which the common man has been paying the price.
"All of us know that who is to be blamed for inflation and corruption, the Congress party is more responsible than the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Our elders know that during their childhood one anna and two anna coins were in use. The Congress Party put these to an end and a few days ago the government also ended the use of 25 paisa coins," said Yadav.
"If this government continues to be in power then one might not find goods worth 50 paisa and one rupee in the market," he added.
He also took a shot at BSP by patting the back of the Election Commission of India (ECI) for covering the statues of BSP leaders and party logo.
"We would like to congratulate the Election Commission of India, for the colouring (cloaking) the elephant in yellow colour. People have started saying that the elephant has now become weak. So this is an indication of the departure of this government. And since it is her last birthday so this is how it would be celebrated," said Yadav.
Uttar Pradesh elections, spread through a seven phase polling in the months of February and March, are seen as an opportunity for Congress party to re-establish foothold in its erstwhile political base in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.
Uttar Pradesh will elect a new 403-member state assembly in March, and the poll results are expected to broadly indicate trends for 2014 general elections. (ANI)
