Lahore, Jan 3(ANI): Pakistan's Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that prime minister has to take the vote of confidence only once, and that has already been done.
In an exclusive chat with SAMAA TV, Kaira tried to downplay the Muttaheda Qaumi Movement's decision to sit on the opposition benches, saying that the coalition partner had some reservations with the provincial government.
"We believe that the MQM will stand by the PPP after realising ground realities," he added.
On Sunday, the PPP-led Pakistan government lost its majority in the National Assembly, as Muttahida Qaumi Movement, which has 25 MNAs, decided to sit on the Opposition benches on account of differences with the ruling party.
The apparent cause of this astonishing new development is reportedly the government's failure to control the ongoing price hike in Pakistan, including the recent price raise of petroleum products, and the proposed RGST in the pipeline.
To a question about the price hike, Kaira said that the PPP was a party of masses, and that it was also worried about their problems.
"We are taking difficult decisions to rescue the country's economy," he added. (ANI)
