India continues to face skilled worker problem in 2011: ASSOCHAM

Despite creating 10-15 millions new jobs in the next year, India will face the rolling problem of skilled workers, reported Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) on Sunday.

The new evolve jobs will due to rapid economic growth of India, added the leading industrial lobby in its report.


Indicating the reason of India's fast growth rate, Assocham said that India's youth force is the largest in the world that is the principal reason behind India's growth, but millions of young Indians are jobless because they do not receive proper vocational training.

"The huge numbers of Indian youth are not only unemployed but unemployable, whereas large numbers of white collar jobs are waiting for suitable candidates," the report said.

'About 75% of new jobs would require vocational training to enhance the employability wrapper, and if not addressed properly, it could lead to a slowdown in the country's economic growth.' Assocham report warns.

Presenting a brighter report for the skilled workers, Assocham states, 'the year 2011 is likely to be a boom for skilled worker engaged in IT & ITES, biotechnology and services sectors as their salaries are expected to rise 30 to 40 percent against the 15% in 2010 due to high demand particularly in India's IT outsourcing sector'.
